from FF ultimania, Cloud and Tifa are considered canon.. as in they are the official couple from Square
and I just wanna share some of their chit-chat through the game... or even from Case of Tifa (FF VII novella, takes place after FF VII ending)

This is one of Barret’s talk-to lines. Its placement in the script makes sense as a response to Cloud’s unused question.

Tifa walks over to Cloud and stands very close to him and proceeds to tease Barret.
TIFA
“Oh, Barret!
Are you mad because
I’m not paying enough attention to you?”

When Cloud goes on the date with Aerith, Tifa or Yuffie, the background music on the gondola is "Words Drowned by Fireworks."
But
this theme song only applied to Tifa, who was going to confess her
feelings at that time but those words drowned by the sounds of
fireworks.

According to
Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega, Cloud's rescue scene was originally
planned to be even longer; after washing up on the shore of Mideel with
Tifa, Cloud would have been unconscious and Tifa would have had to
revive him with CPR. During this stage Cloud would have a vision of
being experimented by Professor Hojo in Nibelheim, and of his escape
with Zack. The scene was moved to be viewed in the Shinra Mansion
Basement in the game's final version

Under The highwind
"The
original plans for Cloud and Tifa's moment under the Highwind were far
more suggestive than the final product. Following a fade-out scene,
Cloud was to walk out of the chocobo stable on board the Highwind,
followed by Tifa who would check around as she left. This idea was
rejected for being too "extreme", and a less risqué "toned down" version
of the scene replaced it."

Kitase: Katou also did the event on the airship, the night before the final battle.
Nojima: Oh, the scene with the risqué line of dialogue? It was Katou who wrote that as well, not me.
Q:
The line “Words aren’t the only way to talk someone how you feel,”
right? That was quite a mature conversation for a FF game.
Kitase: But I remember having to get another version that was too intense toned down.
Nojima:
The original idea was more extreme. The plan was to have Cloud walk
out of the Chocobo stable on board the Highwind, followed by Tifa
leaving while checking around, but Kitase turned it down. But even with
the line in question, maybe at that time none of us thought it would
be something so important (laughs).

option's text and an accompanying screen-shots are shown, implying it
the official or "canon" version. This version is also listed in the

Sephiroth, without using words, he confirms with her that their feelings
match.

In
FF7, Tifa is the only one who knows Cloud’s childhood, and
furthermore, she holds the key to people involved in the story of
Nibelheim’s burning down, which is also depicted in CC. She and Cloud
came to realize their feelings for each other in the end of the story,
and live together in AC and DC.

ventured into Lifestream together with Cloud. Amidst the course of him
trying to ascertain his memories, they became aware of the
thoughts/feelings which each other was holding.

want to see Cloud — Marlene’s honest words, which reflected what Tifa
felt in her own heart, caused her to smile. The present Tifa isn’t just
Cloud’s childhood friend, but also the mother of the ‘family’ they
were forming in Edge.

had summoned. He defeated Sephiroth after his Advent, and returned to
Tifa and the children.

followed by a fade-to-black
followed by Cloud saying "Sorry. Did I wake you...?"
snuggly-wuggly with Tifa
and then saying "This is probably the last time we'll have together,"
and then on the Highwind, having Tifa say "You were watching!?"
and then running off and being embarrassed,
doesn't mean that Cloud and Tifa had Sexy Time...
then your reading and visual comprehension are a wee bit...rusty.
They could have hugged, cuddled together, played Triple Triad, hot potato anything!

of the world. No home to go to. Childhood friends. Hidden feelings.
No one but each other. That spells S-E-X-Y. T-I-M-E.

As Tifa looked away from the sky towards the
ground, she was fearful of the future. However, Cloud beside her chose
to smile gently. It was a smile that she hadn’t seen before during
their journey. Cloud noticed her gaze and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Cloud, you’re smiling.”
“I am?”
“Yeah.”
“It
all starts now. A new…” Cloud looked for the right words, “A new life.
I’m going to live. I think that’s the only way I can be forgiven. All
sorts of things… happened.”
“That’s right…”
“But when I think about how many times I’ve thought about how I was going to start a new life, it’s funny.”
“Why?”
“Because I’ve always failed everything.”
“That’s not funny.”
“After this … I think I’ll be okay.” Cloud was silent for a long time before he spoke again, “Because I have you this time.”
“You’ve always had me.”
“What I mean is kind of different,” Cloud answered with another smile.

Right
after Sephiroth took Aerith’ life, she hadn’t grieved at all. She had
been sad, but she channeled her sadness into anger and hatred for the
enemy. But the pain she felt when she visited the place tore her heart
apart. While enduring the pain, she thought to herself how she was made
this way by being part of a large group of people and an AVALANCHE
member. She overflowed with tears again.
“I’m sorry, I’m really sorry.”
She felt Cloud’s hand on her shoulder. He was holding onto her firmly as if he didn’t want her to go anywhere.
For now, I’ll just let myself cry as much as I want. I’ll leave the rest in his hands.
I just didn’t know what I should do.

When Tifa and Cloud were alone, Cloud said, “It’s not like you to be troubled by your thoughts.”
“It’s… Just the way I am.”
“No. You’re much more cheerful and strong. If you’ve forgotten the way you were then, I’ll be there to remind you.”
“You really will?”
“Probably,” Cloud said blushing.
